Academy Athletes Shine at Dublin Team Championships

Clongriffin AC’s Academy athletes produced a fantastic display of teamwork, effort and determination at the recent Dublin Team Championships, delivering performances that reflected everything the club strives to achieve through its System Over Stars philosophy.

Across the day, our young athletes won:

🥇 5 Gold Medals
🥈 8 Silver Medals
🥉 5 Bronze Medals

Medals were won across a wide range of events including sprints, relays, turbo javelin, long jump and middle-distance races, while many athletes also recorded new personal bests and experienced competition in new events for the very first time.

While the medals were a wonderful reward for the athletes’ hard work, what stood out most was the way our U9–U11 athletes competed. The encouragement they showed one another, the willingness to try new challenges, and the enthusiasm they brought to every event demonstrated exactly what Academy athletics should be about.

At Clongriffin AC, we believe success is built through participation, learning and consistent effort. Championships provide an opportunity for young athletes to develop confidence, resilience and a love for the sport, regardless of where they finish in the results.

Athletes compete in pairs, meaning success depends on more than individual performance alone. It requires teamwork, encouragement and a willingness to support a teammate throughout the day. Seeing our athletes celebrate each other’s successes, step up for their teammates and represent the club together was one of the highlights of the championships.

The performances also highlighted the strength of the Academy programme, with athletes competing confidently across multiple disciplines and showing the benefits of developing a broad range of athletic skills at a young age.

A huge thank you goes to all of our coaches and volunteers whose preparation and support made the day possible, and to the parents who continue to support their children’s athletics journey.

Most importantly, congratulations to every athlete who wore the black and green with pride. The medals were excellent, but the teamwork, positivity and courage shown throughout the day were an even greater success.

Next up for the young athletes is the All-Ireland Pairs in Tullamore.
