Double All-Ireland Gold Caps Great Day In Athlone

Clongriffin AC athletes continued their excellent form on Day 2 of the Juvenile All-Ireland Indoor Championships in Athlone, adding further medals and strong performances across a wide range of events.

The day started with Liliya Riecka producing an outstanding series of jumps to win gold in the U16 Girls Triple Jump, securing her first national title. Liliya showed great competition readiness throughout and produced her winning jump in the final round to snatch a dramatic victory with a new PB.

Gold also came the way of Dylan Brennan, who delivered a superb performance to claim his first national title in the U17 Boys 60m Sprint. A blistering start put Dylan in a strong position and he showed great composure to close it out over the last 20m. His time of 7.03 was a big PB. His full race is in the clip below.

Adam Conway took his second medal of the weekend, following up his 200m silver with a 60m bronze in the U16 Boys 60m. His time of 7.39 is also a PB. A great return for Adam in what his first All-Ireland Indoors. Adam’s race is in the clip below, lane 4.

In the U16 Girls event, Eva McArdle made the 60m final running very well to finish 7th, while at pretty much the same time was making the final and placing 8th in the Long Jump, showing great consistency across multiple events.

Lauren Ferguson produced a battling performance, mustering a big charge on the final lap of the U17 Girls 1500m Walk, finishing 4th and just outside the medal positions. Keane Wosser, made his third final of the weekend and was agonisingly close to a medal again in the U17 Boys 400m, his second 4th place of the weekend, showing great range of events.

The jumps events again saw strong representation. Robin Harris finished 6th in the U15 Boys High Jump, while Leon Keogh placed 7th in the U14 Boys High Jump with a new PB of 1.50. In the horizontal jumps, Niamh O’Farrell (U14 Girls Long Jump), Sarah O’Halloran (U13 Girls Long Jump) both competed well in competitive fields while our youngest competitor of the day, Robyn Berney, performed brillantly on the big stage in the Girls U12 Long Jump.

In the development age groups, Quinn O’Dwyer (U13 Boys 60m Sprint) and Etienne Cotter (U14 Boys 60m Sprint) gained further valuable experience at national level, both performing well in large and competitive fields.

Overall, it was another highly positive day for the club, with two additional national titles and a bronze medal, alongside multiple top 8 finishes and strong performances across all event groups. The consistency of performances across both days highlights the continued progression of the squad and the strength of the club’s development pathway.
